2009 Cacoy Doce Pares World Federation Stickfighting Championships
Instructor Kyle McWilliams was the sole competitor from New Zealand to travel to Cebu City to participate in the 2009 World Championships and he did not let us down!
Competitors attended from around the world including, the Philippines, Indonesia, Spain, Poland, USA and a strong contingent from Australia.
Instructor McWilliams competed in the Finals against Grandmaster Vincent Palumbo in the Mens 40–49 years Heavyweight Single Stick division and won a silver medal. An impressive effort against a Grandmaster who has an incredible amount of experience in the international Stickfighting ring.
Instructor McWilliams won a second silver medal fighting in the Mens 40-49 years Heavyweight Double Stick division, unfortunately succumbing to the more experienced Grandmaster Palumbo again.
We would like to congratulate Instructor McWilliams on an excellent medal haul.
